Cambridge Recruitment Software Solutions (CRSS) is launching a new virtual back office system based on the enterprise edition of its Opera II Recruitment software.

Historically, Opera II has been adopted by larger recruiters but the new hosted system makes it more affordable for smaller agencies as it can be accessed via the internet for a monthly fee. As well as Opera II’s payroll, billing and accounting functionality, it includes Microsoft Office, firewalls, back-ups, upgrades and technical support and integrates with front office recruitment management software.

One of the first agencies to use the system is start-up agency Quattro Recruitment in Norwich. As a new business with no IT infrastructure in place, managing director Richard Morrissey told Recruiter that the hosted approach saved the company considerable upfront costs. “As individuals we have minimal accounting and payroll knowledge, but with just a day’s training and various support calls we have been able to negate the need for expensive professional expenditure to complete these functions on a weekly and monthly basis,” said Morrissey. “As an example we are now payrolling in

excess of 100 temporary workers per week and invoicing clients in a little over three hours.”

Jeffrey Anderson, managing director of CRSS, said many recruitment businesses struggle with their back office systems, restricting their growth. The hosted version of Opera II can cope with anything from 50 to 6,000 temporary workers per week.

It has also been implemented by Cerebra International which has brought its previously outsourced payroll, billing and accounting function in-house. “We are much more in control of what is happening and are able to respond and react much faster to any financial-related issues,” said Graham Jones, Cerebra International’s finance director.
