Nearly a third (30%) of UK recruiters plan expand into Europe over the year, according to research commissioned by the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo).

The research, carried out by Baker Tilly Revas among 75 staffing companies supplying professional candidates in areas such as finance, IT and engineering, shows that 20% of UK staffing companies also have plans to expand outside Europe in the next year, with South Africa the joint favourite market outside Europe.

Ann Swain, chief executive of APSCo, says: “It’s encouraging that so many UK recruitment businesses have overseas expansion plans despite the uncertain economic outlook. Many overseas staffing markets are relatively immature compared to the UK and are being liberalised so that they’re more accessible to UK staffing companies.”
