Recruiter accused

Recruitment firm taken to court over fake job prospects

Manchester's Data Jobs has been taken to high court after allegations it sold fake job opportunities to third world nationals.

The charges were brought by the Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) of the Insolvency Service, after an enquiry found applicants were automatically passing online interviews before being charged £38 for tools to obtain jobs. The tools turned out to be irrelevant CDs and other information freely available on the internet, according to the CIB. It is claimed they also overcharged for postage and packaging on materials.

Lorna Dennis, from the Insolvency Service's press office, told Recruiter the company had gone into compulsory liquidation and had refused to give evidence of the sifting process for candidates. "We'll look at the conduct and see whether we will disqualify any directors," she continued.
