REC to meet with de Poel_2
Managed services provider de Poel and representatives from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) will meet on Monday to discuss driver agencies’ concerns about working arrangements with the Cheshire-based company.
Matthew Sanders, de Poel’s managing director, told Recruiter on Thursday: “We’re delighted to be meeting with the REC on Monday and look forward to addressing issues head on.”
In a statement to Recruiter, REC Drivers’ Sector chair Andrew Horner said he would be meeting with de Poel to discuss the company’s controversial database, which agencies must pay £500 to access. “There is...a growing recognition that a dialogue between all parties is essential to ensure that these managed services arrangements are sustainable.”
Horner went on to say: “It is important that neutral vendors understand their second-tier suppliers and the specific requirements that are made on recruitment agencies. For example details of the assignment should be full and accurate otherwise the agency cannot correctly advertise the position. In some areas [where] health and safety is a concern, an agency has an obligation to warn their candidates about risks in the workplace they are being posted to. It is vital that this information is passed on by the neutral vendor.”
De Poel’s presence in the market has raised concerns for some in the recruitment industry because, since it does not supply drivers directly, it is not covered by certain legislation governing recruiters. De Poel has said it is seeking recognition by the REC.
