The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) made a profit of £221,177 in the year ended 31 December, according to its annual report and accounts. This compares with a profit of £174,050 in 2007.
Turnover increased to £6.57m compared with £6.12m in the previous year.
Of the REC’s income, £3.9m came from membership fees, £1.7m from training and professional development and £850,000 from other sources.
REC chief executive Kevin Green told Recruiter that income from the REC’s training and development activities had fallen slightly on the previous year as members’ training budgets came under pressure
Some office costs are being taken out of the organisation, says Green. However, despite this, administrative expenses rose slightly from £4.219m to £4.366m.
The surplus at the end of 2008 was £1.091m
“All in all 2008 was a very successful year,” says Green.
