Discount retailer Poundland is to create around 180 new jobs through an expansion into the Republic of Ireland.

The initial stores, trading under the name ‘Dealz’, will be launched in the Republic of Ireland in early October and will create 120 jobs. It is understood that local recruitment is well under way.

The chain plans to open at least six stores in the Republic of Ireland by the end of its financial year in March 2012, bringing a minimum of 180 new jobs to the Irish economy and a total of over €2m (£1.75m) in capital investment.
