Personality clashes key in staff turnover_2
Personality clashes, ineffective job interviews, a “one size fits all” approach and gut feeling decision-making are the four leading factors behind employee turnover, a survey by YouGuv has found.
The study found that 67% of employers cited a personality clash as the main reason to let an employee go, and two-thirds of employees said they would move to another company to achieve a better cultural fit.
It found 54% of job seekers believe they did not get enough information from employers to make an informed decision about a company or position, and 91% of job hunters make prejudgements about what employers want to hear in an interview and change their answers to fit this.
The survey found eight out of ten companies still use a ‘one size fits all’ approach to hiring staff. Meanwhile 67% of recruiters form opinions on the suitability of a candidate in four hours, while 59% base their hiring decisions on gut feel.
