Paddy Power seeks techies to fill 1,440 new roles

Paddy Power is seeking ecommerce, IT, online, marketing and in-store staff to fill 1,440 new positions in Ireland, UK and Australia, according to Paddy Power, head of communications at the bookmake

Paddy Power is seeking ecommerce, IT, online, marketing and in-store staff to fill 1,440 new positions in Ireland, UK and Australia, according to Paddy Power, head of communications at the bookmaker.

The firm announced that is to create 1,440 new positions in Ireland, UK and Australia by 2013 with 500 new jobs created in Ireland, 810 new jobs in the UK and 130 jobs in Australia.

Power told Recruiter that the betting firm would be seeking a “huge” mixture of people with ecommerce, IT and online marketing skills.

Power says: “Our Irish operations have always grown but there probably the flattest part of the business now. The good thing is that we are not reliant on the Irish economy and growing internationally.

“We have grown in Ireland and have created smart economy jobs at head office which services the international growth. People have less money to spend so it is common sense that the Irish market will struggle, but thankfully we are continuing to grow abroad.

“We are growing in retail. Our retail expansion is pretty massive in the UK. We are probably opening another 50 shops in the UK. We are growing significantly on the ground — the Paddy Power formula is working.

“The growth is also in the technological sphere. There are a lot of positions in IT. We have a website called Workwithpaddy.com and have 86 positions open on that already and the new positions will come on online over the next couple of years.”
