A surge in online recruitment was experienced in February, following from a January slowdown, according to the Monster Employment Index.

It reports that the administration and organisation industry sector helped to fuel the rise in recruitment activity as did banking, finance and insurance.

Production, manufacturing, maintenance and repair was the only major industry sector to register a drop in demand, Monster found.
Eight out of nine occupation groups tracked by the Index registered greater online recruitment opportunities. The highest increases were reported for craft workers; technicians and professionals.

Among the regions, the highest levels of recruitment activity were recorded in the Midlands and the south-west.  Meanwhile, following a record rise for online recruitment activity in Scotland in January, the Index decreased significantly in February for this region.
