The AlljobsUK.com Online Recruitment Index fell by over 100 points at Easter across its 10 monitored sites.

After holding steady during March at around the 1,500 mark, the index fell to 1,347.42 points.

The index surveys the biggest sites by volume, which last month were Fish4Jobs, FriendsReunitedJobs, Gis-a-job, Job Search, JobServe, Jobsite, Monster, New9to5, Reed and Totaljobs.

Multi-sector recruiters Jobserve and Reed both saw their number of active advertised jobs dip by over 10,000.

Stephen O'Donnell, director at Alljobs, attributed this to the index's normal seasonal fall at this time of year.

As of 19 April, there were 604,767 live ads for vacancies.
