One foot in the grave?
If you think you’re being watched more closely than normal at work, then your boss may have been following the latest government health campaign to raise awareness of the disease of dementia.
Under the Dementia Strategy published earlier this month, employers have been urged to stay vigilant and watch for early signs of dementia among their workers. The claim is that dementia cases in the UK are set to double to 1.4m over the next four years.
A spokesperson for job board ClickAJob helpfully reminds us that dementia is just one of many conditions employers should be aware of. “If an employee’s performance suddenly slips, it’s not always their fault,” said the spokesperson.
“With modern medicine, all kinds of conditions are emerging that can be helped if only managers knew what to look for.”
However, maybe employees should be keeping a vigilant watch on their managers as well. After all, no-one is immune, whatever position you hold at work.
