In a recent survey from eFinancialcareers.com, around 800 bankers were asked: "Which political party would be most favourable for the City?" As the results show, Gordon Brown still has a long way to go before the City is really on his side. 59.7% said Conservative, as opposed to 21% for Labour. The Lib Dems polled only 9.98%, similar to those who said none of above (9.22%).

Nearly 9 out of every 10 UK workers (88%) now regularly use email, the internet or both while at work; and most believe it improves the quality of their output, according to a survey. The Kelly Services Global Workforce Index asked roughly 70,000 people in 28 countries including almost 6,000 in the UK. 41% of workers reported a high volume of emails that were either time wasting or unnecessary; and 31% complained of high volumes of spam. The UK scored ahead of the USA in its use of online communications, ranking 13th out of the 28 countries in the survey, compared to the USA, which came 17th. The highest users were Hong Kong, Mexico, India, Thailand and Indonesia.

At the 2007 Recruiter Awards for Excellence, supported by Thomas International, there were 200 staff working on the event (waiters, wine waiters and chefs) at the Grosvenor House Hotel,London.
