Nannies must be protected from exploitation in any shake-up of the childcare industry after a report urged tax breaks for working parents, said Susan Rogan of Susan Rogan Family Care, a Melbourne-based nanny recruitment agency. Rogan, previously director of the now defunct Australian Association of Nanny Agencies, said a recommendation to include a national au pair programme to attract overseas workers under a special 12-month visa could lead to the exploitation of immigrant workers.
