Technical recruiter Morson is looking to overseas markets to boost growth.
Ged Mason, chief executive of Morson Group, told Recruiter the company is looking to open more offices abroad to support existing customers where the financial numbers warranted it.
Speaking after the release of Morson’s H1 interim results, which saw profit before tax up 7.7% at £5.3m
he says that Morson plans to open an office in South Africa by the end of the year.
Mason says that the while the UK market remains uncertain in the short term because of the upcoming defence review and government cuts, the long-term prospects for Morson are “encouraging”.
He highlights the renaissance of the UK nuclear industry as a particular growth opportunity.
The group’s results also reveal:
- revenue up 0.9% to £221.8m (H1 2009: £219.9m)
- net fee income (gross profit) down 7.7% to £16.7m (H1 2009: £18.1m)
- profit from operations down 0.6% to £5.4m (H1 2009: £5.5m)
- net debt rose during the period to £18.8m, up £7.8m from £11.0m at 31 December 2009, largely due to the acquisition of Wynnwith.
