Monster has issued guidelines on how to take a power nap at work ahead of National Nap at Work Week, which runs from 29 March to 5 April.
The top tips are:
- Do not sleep longer than 20 minutes otherwise the benefits of napping are reduced
- Don’t be self conscious – it is your lunch time and if you want to nap then that is your choice, as long as it does not disturb colleagues
- Set an alarm so that you need not worry about snoozing too long, it will also keep you from going past 20 minutes
- When you wake up you may well feel a little drowsy, so eat your lunch after your nap or a snack to provide you with an extra energy boost
- Alert people to what you are doing – this way you won’t be woken up mid-nap by others bothering you
- Some work places now provide nap pods which provide the ideal place to grab 40 winks
- If you don’t feel you can nap at work, even just putting everything aside and just taking a break for a few moments will do you the world of good
