MEN Media, publisher of the Manchester Evening News, is putting together a database of jobs for the Greater Manchester area, bringing together the best of its recruitment advertising.

As well as the daily paper, MEN publishes 20 weekly newspapers and also owns Channel M Television, which carries recruitment advertising.

Called The Jobs Mine, MEN believes it will offer the biggest single database of jobs in Manchester. Head of recruitment Rachel Jewell told Recruiter that it is currently being presented to recruitment and advertising agencies who have responded well to both the site and the concept of a single brand across all of its media platforms.

"The Jobs Mine means jobseekers will be able to access job advertisements whenever they want," said Jewell, who added that new features on the site include being able to separate off recruitment agency and direct employer ads.

"Jobseekers can also search by employer and we're giving organisations the opportunity to add a company profile, so people know exactly who they are applying to."

Jewell said that MEN is currently exploring a number of other developments for the site, which it hopes will be in place before its full launch in January 2008, including an improved CV matching system and integration of a new search platform.

"Video streaming of recruitment commercials is another development we want to extend further," she added. "As Channel M is a city TV station, there are closer synergies with recruiters using this to advertise their vacancies to local job seekers."
