Medical recruiters key to meeting NHS challenge

Niche medical recruiters have a key role to play in meeting the recruitment needs of the NHS as higher than expected spending cuts loom, according to Vicky Scott, operations manger at Jobs4Medical.co.uk.

Scott says: “While budgets are going to be increasingly scrutinised, healthcare organisations still have a duty to their patients to provide them with care from highly-qualified professionals.

“To expand medical care and build upon the promises provided by the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, it is important for organisations in this sector to continue to recruit for new positions in a cost effective and direct manner.

“It is in this area that niche recruitment services can help cut recruitment costs, while also finding high quality candidates to support the future of healthcare services under the new coalition government.”

Scott’s comments came after the health secretary Andrew Lansley warned on Friday’s Today Programme that the government might need to achieve more than the originally anticipated 3%, efficiency savings each year in the NHS.
