Mapping out social media effectiveness

SociView is a new social media mapping tool that allows organisations to gain a clear picture of their social media activity and presence, and to report on its effectiveness via a single dashboard.

It will help employers safeguard employer brand as well as help recruiters assess which channels are the most effective. While in the beta phase, the software has been used by a number of Fortune 500 companies to attain better visibility of their social media ’real estate’.

Chris Sykes, chief executive of the digital agency Volume and the man behind the tool, told Recruiter that SociView can categorise, rank and rate each account or instance to show how relevant and impactful it is for the brand. Accounts can be classed as ’official’, ’endorsed’, ’unofficial’ or ’other’ and are automatically assigned a Sociscore to indicate how they are performing.

“So an organisation could decide that it will only make a site official if it has a Sociscore of above 70 because it wants to drive people to where the best quality content is,” explained Sykes. “Recruitment firms that are empowering their consultants to recruit through their own accounts can gain an aggregated view of all these touch points and monitor their effectiveness. You’ll know which are high-performing and which are falling below the mark so you can put these into training or even switch off those that are having a negative effect on the brand.”

SociView works by pulling in social media accounts and instances of activity that relate to keywords and topics. These words could relate to a particular business area that a recruiter wishes to map as well as to their own activities. Sykes believes the tool will also be used for lead mapping, which in recruiting terms could mean “candidate mapping”.

“If a graduate is found when mapping a particular business area, their name could get pulled in and a recruiter may get early notification that this person is on the market.”
