The Malaysian Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has issued a directive that from next year, the country's publicly listed companies must disclose the ethnic breakdown of their workforces. The directive is seen a further attempt by the government to address the issue of the dominant position of Chinese and Indian minorities within the country's business sector, vis-à-vis the majority Malays, who make up 60% of the population.
