Mackie to star over in Orion's energetic Houston office

Colin Mackie, previously technical manager of engineering specialist, Orion Group, is heading across the Atlantic to take the reins as businessdevelopment manager in the Houston, Texas office.

After eight years at Orion’s Inverness headquarters, Mackie has been offered the opportunity to develop the expanding US arm of the company. He will use his knowledge of the group’s operations to build new business prospects in the Lone star state and guide a team of 15 recruiters in a bid to mirror Orion Group’s success in Europe and the Middle East.

Mackie is relocating from his hometown of Inverness in November, along with his fiancée and seven-year-old son. He said: “After eight successful years at the Inverness headquarters, I feel well-equipped to spearhead the Orion Group’s American business ambitions.

“With my family, I’m eagerly anticipating this extraordinary opportunity and look forward to proving myself in Houston, a dynamic hub of the energy world.”

Accountancy specialist Definitive Consulting has appointed Rod Unwin as a partner in its advisory division, based in London. Formerly a principal at executive recruiter Talent2, Unwin specialises in partner and director searches within corporate finance, risk advisory and audit, acting for professional services firms, consultancies, boutique accounting firms and private equity houses.

Specialist technical and professional recruiter, Gold Group, has promoted two of its staff. Chris Austin and Ian Devlin have been promoted to senior consultant roles within their respective divisions. Austin specialises in claims, dispute resolution and forensic accountancy positions throughout the UK. Devlin works for Gold’s safety division — specialising in the placement of safety engineers into the rail, nuclear, oil & gas, defence and avionics industries. Gold has also taken on Stuart McClure to head their marketing team.

National recruitment and business services group HR GO has promoted Gemma Parnell to group marketing coordinator from marketing assistant.

Rhys Dickinson has left Conceptuality People Solutions and gone to Petrie Recruitment, also in Cardiff, as a resourcer on the technical desk.

Liz Cox has been appointed as team manager within McCarthy Recruitment’s retail and hospitality division. Cox joins from Oyster Retail Recruitment and brings with her extensive experience in the retail recruitment marketplace over seven years.

GRS, the global executive search consultancy, has announced the appointment of Todd Caissie to head its legal division in New York. Caissie has more than 12 years’ experience in the executive recruitment industry. As the partner of GRS Legal in New York, Caissie will take full responsibility for the direction and strategy of the division in the US.

Supply chain recruitment specialist Momentum Logistics has appointed Huw Duggan to senior consultant. Duggan joins Momentum with more than 10 years’ experience in management recruitment with companies including Hudson and Kendall Edwards.

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has appointed two new relationship managers, Nick Bowles and Josie Holroyd, to head its new office in the City of London as part of its continued expansion. Bowles will become member relationship manager and Holroyd will take the role of affiliate relationship manager.

Retail and sales management specialist R3 Resourcing has appointed co-founder Kevin Edmonds as chairman. He rejoins the board after two-and-a-half years spent setting up the Dubai-basedown from the role after five years, and the UK operation will be managed recruiter Gulf Six, where he will continue as chief executive. Current chief executive of R3, and also co-founder, Daniel Cornwell, is to stand d by Edmonds in conjunction with current UK managing director Alison Tawn.

First People Solutions Group (FPSG) has appointed eight new members of staff across two new divisions in its Manchester office.

Richard Thomas (left) and Peter McConnell (right) have been chosen as associate directors. McConnell has joined as associate director for public sector throughout the UK. He has appointed Andrew Lofthouse (bottom left) as managing consultant and Daniel Franklin (bottom right) as senior consultant. Thomas has been appointed as associate director for supply chain and procurement. Karen Mitchell has been appointed divisional manager for the call centre team and Katie Bayley as consultant. FPSG has also appointed Jenni Surrey as office manager.
