London salaries
The average salary for a job advertised in London is £10,000 more than the national average, according to data from 880,000 jobs advertised in the UK in the past six months, analysed by jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com.
The research discovered the average salary advertised in London is £38,998, while the
average salary outside of the capital is £28,407.
Dave Martin, the managing director of AllTheTopBananas.com, says: "The difference between salaries in London and the rest of the UK may look huge. But with the cost of living being so much higher in the capital, it's unlikely Londoners feel that extra spending power."
AllTheTopBananas.com releases a salary index every month, which contains a regional breakdown and figures for the top 50 towns and cities in the UK. It found that across the regions in February, Wales is second to London, with an average advertised salary of £32,030. East Anglia is in third place with an average advertised salary of £29,685, and the North-East is at the bottom of the table on £26,067.
