With logistics among the sectors most affected by the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR), the future may be an increase in permanent placements.

As reported in Recruiter magazine, 2 November (Regulations driving recruiters crazy), the controversial Swedish Derogation model has been implemented in a number of logistics areas thanks to the AWR.

David Coombes, managing director and founder of the recently launched job board Logistics Job Shop, says the regulations could have another effect: “The new regulations mean that many of the advantages of employing agency staff have now gone.

“It is only a matter of time before logistics departments and third-party logistics service providers begin reducing their dependency on agency labour and start employing a higher proportion of their workforce directly.”
