Life science specialist joins RSA as senior consultant

Global life sciences specialist RSA has appointed Dr Roger Anderson as a senior consultant. Dr Anderson is a PhD chemist and will be based in the company’s London office.

Global life sciences specialist RSA has appointed Dr Roger Anderson as a senior consultant. Dr Anderson is a PhD chemist and will be based in the company’s London office.

Dr Anderson has had a 26-year career in the fine chemical, precious metal and pre-clinical research sectors, with companies such as Ciba-Geigy, FMC’s lithium division, Johnson Matthey and Huntingdon Life Sciences.

From this varied industry background, Dr Anderson began recruiting with a focus on the life sciences sector within Europe and further afield.

IT specialist Spring Technology - part of Spring Group - has chosen Sean Young as its new head of permanent recruitment. Young moves up to the position from the post of operational managing director, to which he was promoted in 2003 after a spell as contracts manager. Young was formerly a manager with the RDL Group.

Enigma People Solutions, the IT specialist, has brought in Gemma Brewis as an infrastructure and visualisation consultant. She will be based in the Glasgow office.

Verity Hogg has joined energy search consultancy Commodity Search Partners. Hogg will head the energy legal desk and be based in the company’s Brighton office.

Nationwide recruitment network gap personnel has appointed two new directors to front its continuing national expansion. Rachel Shipton will spearhead the company’s growth throughout the South West and South Wales, overseeing the operations of branches in Cardiff, Chippenham and Bristol. Matthew Hull has joined the team as regional director for Yorkshire, taking responsibility for offices in Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Castleford.

Healthcare Locums (HCL) has announced the appointment of Mark Staniland as managing director of its social care division, made up of Bluecare, RS Social Care and HCL Social Work Professionals. Staniland, who has more than 20 years’ experience in specialist recruitment, joins from Hays, where he was responsible for Hays’ UK public sector businesses, including the health and social care division.

Marketing recruiter EMR has promoted Simon Bassett to managing director. Bassett was previously director and former managing consultant at the company.

Multi-sector recruitment company Career Cross has appointed James Horsfall as director. Horsfall will join the Leeds-based recruiter’s board.

Jenny Byrant is set to join music company EMI Music as its new global president of human resources on 29 June. She will report directly to EMI Music chief executive Elio Leoni-Sceti. Byrant is currently employed by mobile telecommunications giant Vodafone. She joined in 2000, and has held a number of roles within the HR department - most recently as interim group human resources director.

Zach Leonard has been promoted to managing director of News International’s (NI) graduate recruitment business Milkround. Leonard was director of strategy and development at NI.

Hospitality recruiter Catering Services International has appointed Sara Ackrill as manager of its Exeter office.

Jonny Hiles has been appointed director at The Hub, a fee-splitting business for independent recruitment companies.

Simon Fairbrother has been appointed managing director in South Asia for Brooklands Executives, an interim executive practice. Fairbrother will be responsible for leading the company’s expansion in South Asia and will cover the Indian and Sri Lankan markets.

LMA Recruitment, the financial services specialist, has expanded its business with the appointment of Paul Scott to establish an offering in human resources and Marc Hagan in the vendor technologies team.

Executive search provider Boyden has made a raft of new appointments. Niall Macnaughton has joined the firm’s Middle East operation as general manager in the Dubai office; Lisa Gerhardt will head the global HR practice; John Howard will lead the global industrial practice; and Christiaan Lebbink will direct the firm’s global life sciences practice. In addition, Ami Bhatt Hardy has been appointed managing director of the company’s Hong Kong and mainland China offices.
