Leamington Spa ‘recruitment specialist’ forced into liquidation

A Leamington Spa-based company, Rightstepinternetrecruitment Limited, has been ordered into liquidation by the High Court following an investigation by the Company Investigations team of the Insolvency Service.

The High Court ordered Rightstepinternetrecruitment into liquidation on the grounds of public interest last week having raised £13,760 through illegitimate activities, with no evidence it ever conducted any legitimate business, an Insolvency Service statement said.

The sole director of the company, William Morton informed investigators that he ran the company from his home under the control of Michael Smith, whom he knew as Mark Smith. However, Morton was unable to provide any details for Smith, nor did anyone of that name cooperate with the enquiry, the statement said.

The Service is not ruling out further legal action against the Morton or others involved in the company, which also employed secretary Stephen Richards, telling Recruiter: “We have up to two years to bring proceedings.”

Since June this year, 11 other recruitment agencies have been put into liquidation on the grounds of public interest.

Previously, Crystal Recruitment, A2B Recruitment, Medi Recruitment, DTM Recruitment, Recruitment Online, Education Recruitment Online and Forever Recruitment faced similar liquidation orders in June. This was followed by Smart Staffing Solutions in July, Internet Recruitment and Working Solutions Direct in August and De Montford Press in September.

To report any suspicions of business malpractice, The National Insolvency Service has a helpline number for the general public 0845 602 9848.
