Krispy Kreme to nearly double UK workforce by 2015

Doughnut retailer Krispy Kreme UK has ambitious expansion plans, which will take the number of outlets to 80 by 2015 and increase the number of people employed to 1,500.

The doughnut company has secured the backing of private equity firm Alcuin Capital Partners in a management buyout valued at £25m that will support its expansion plans, according to a press statement.

Krispy Kreme UK currently employs 800 people. A press spokesman for the doughnut retailer told Recruiterthat 700 new jobs will be created as a result of adding 35 new outlets to the existing 45 in the UK.

The company also operates more than 350 cabinets, with retail partners including Tesco.

Krispy Kreme entered the UK market in October 2003.
