Job postings on rise across the UK

Regions across the UK saw an average increase of 17% in job postings, according to new figures from MyJobGroup.co.uk.

Regions across the UK saw an average increase of 17% in job postings, according to new figures from MyJobGroup.co.uk.

Greater Manchester witnessed the largest rise in job postings, recording a 34% increase in Q3 on Q2. The findings reveal an average increase of 17% for job postings across all regions.

Leicestershire and Derbyshire both saw a 15% increase, while the West Midlands and West Yorkshire saw postings increase by 15% and 19% respectively, and Edinburgh saw 27% growth on Q2.

In comparison, the London jobs market in the past quarter witnessed just a 13% rise in postings.

Lee Fayer, managing director of MyJobGroup.co.uk, says: “Despite there being an increased uncertainty for almost half a million public sector workers, we should still try to take encouragement from these results as we see a steady increase in UK-wide jobs posted when comparing Q2 and Q3 of 2010.

“And, although there is likely to be an increased worry about the jobs market after such a tense public spending review, it’s still promising to see a strong performance from cities in the Midlands, especially as the rate of job expansion outperforms the capital’s growth by a notable amount.”
