IT staff want out_2
A majority of IT staff are actively considering changing jobs and some are so unhappy that they have been deliberately unhelpful to colleagues and customers, according to study by SkillSoft.
The research found that 75% of IT workers go to work wishing they were in another job. It found that 50% of IT managers are either already registered or are about to register with a head-hunter or recruitment agency, and 62% of non-managerial IT personnel have an up-to-date CV ready.
It found that 80% of IT managers and 71% of other IT professionals admit to checking job websites and job vacancy listings more than once a week whilst at work.
The top reasons for wanting to leave are: I don’t earn enough money (30%), I’m bored with my job (23%), the job doesn’t use my talents and skills (18%) and the company isn’t investing in me through training (14%).
