Long-term demand for IT security personnel has continued to grow in a tough economic climate.

Nick Stevens, director of multi-sector recruiter Eximius, told Recruiter the sub-sector is recruiting more heavily than any other IT vertical the company is currently working in: “We have about 15 different IT security clients and of that group 12 are hiring,” he says.

The information security workforce will grow from 1.66m in 2007 to 2.69m by 2012 according to the Global Information Security Workforce Study, produced by industry analysts Frost & Sullivan.

Stuart Packham, director of ?Michael Page Technology, told Recruiter there is still a growing demand for IT security personnel: “It’s been a hot topic for a long time. There is a continued and growing fear for security and they are doing pretty well in a tough market.”
