IT salaries continue to rise in the UK, a survey by IT recruiter CV Screen has reported.

The survey analysed about 60,000 IT positions advertised across the country in Q1 of 2006, looking at 60 permanent IT roles, and concluded that the average advertised IT salary for a professional in the UK was now £31,446.25.

Only IT workers in the public sector were getting better pay rises than their counterparts in private firms.

Matthew Iveson, managing director, of CV Screen, said: “The IT jobs market has seen a definite change in the last 18 months, during which there has been a lot of online headhunting, and a higher response rate from potential candidates.

“This is great for the IT professional but is causing headaches for the employer as they are forced to find more innovative ways of recruiting and retaining their staff,” he added.
