IT recruitment will increase_2
IT recruitment will increase over the next two years, as firms look make additions to their IT workforces in a number of areas, according to The National Computing Centre's (NCC) Benchmark of IT Salaries and Employment Trends 2007.
The report shows the IT labour market is currently in a stable situation, with 48% of those surveyed predicting IT department growth in the next two years.
Most IT recruitment is expected for systems development with a high demand for workers with browser-based skills and knowledge of Microsoft .NET, Java and SharePoint. Staff with SAP and Oracle skills are also set to be in demand, with a premium paid for their expertise in particular.
Wage increases for IT workers are expected to hit 3.6% in 2007, with IT mangers earning on average £46,500 and graduate systems development trainee taking home £17,900 a year. Salaries were found to be highest in London and lowest in Scotland.
