The state of Texas boasted the large counties with the greatest increases in wages, percentage increase in employment and total employment across the whole of the US in March 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The state of Texas boasted the large counties with the greatest increases in wages, percentage increase in employment and total employment across the whole of the US in March 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Large counties are defined by the BLS as those with at least 75,000 workers, and the county of Harris saw employment rise by a total of 70,400 between March 2011 and March 2012, while the rate of employment rose by 6% in Gregg County.The next-highest job rises were seen in the counties of New York, New York and Los Angeles, California, at 53,000 and 52,900 each, while the next-largest employment rises by percentages were seen in two counties in Tennessee, followed by Montgomery, Texas, at 4.9%.
Williamson, Texas saw an average weekly wage hike of $261 (£161), or 27.4%, the highest by both measures nationwide. Collin, Texas was in fifth place on both scales with $126 and 11.8%, while New England counties filled most of the positions in between.
