The East African Community (EAC) has approved the use of a quota system for recruitment to its own organs and institutions, reports ippmedia.com.

Previously, criticism has been levelled at the way in which Kenyan and Ugandan staff have dominated such bodies, leaving the other EAC member states – Burundi, Rwanada and Tanzania – poorly represented.

The quota system is due to come into immediate effect once approved by the Council of Ministers.
