A survey by the All-China Women’s Federation and the Nationa Bureau of Statistics in the country has shown that discrimination against women is strong despite female workers spending more time at work, according to Chindaily.com.

One in four female college students polled said they have faced discrimination while searching for jobs, with 20% of respondents in work saying their employers regularly “hire only men or give men priority over women when both have the same capabilities”.

The survey also found that women work on average nine hours and 34 minutes per working day, 37 minutes longer than men.

It also revealed that the annual income of urban female workers is 67% of that of their male counterparts, falling to 50% in rural areas.
