Australian retailer Woolworths has announced the creation of 10,000 jobs across Australia and New Zealand, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The plans announced 2 November include the opening of 117 new stores in the next few years and a distribution centre in Western Sydney due to employ 350 people.

Chief executive Grant O’Brien also told the Heraldthe company’s liquor sales business was due for expansion.

The company currently employs 190,793 staff.
