The US created nearly 200,000 more jobs in the year to March 2011 than previously expected, according to Reuters.

The news comes just a couple of weeks after president Barack Obama announced a $450bn (£290bn) package aimed at creating jobs.

Reuters notes that the extra number of jobs is 0.1% higher than the previous estimate, although a final figure is to be published early next year.
