Recruiters can quickly identify companies that are actively recruiting and more accurately focus their new business efforts using the latest version of Innovantage’s Insight software.

The software tracks more than 750,000 online job postings each month from job boards and employer sites.

Version 3.0 of Insight reflects the way the recruiting landscape has “reversed” since it launched, said Innovantage’s managing director, Matthew Dewstowe. He said recruiters must be more proactive in locating potential clients and building new client relationships.

He told Recruiter staffing firms must embrace technology to give them a competitive edge. “Lots of recruiters are still working in quite a traditional manner and aren’t looking to differentiate themselves,” he said.

Recruiter tried the new system, which searched on 428,665 job postings from company websites and job boards. It also identified how many were posted by direct employers (65,750 when we visited).

Having selected the search criteria, Insight provides a list of all relevant jobs posted, detailing the organisation, location, date posted and source. You can view a set of percentage breakdowns under a number of headings so you can spot trends and be alert to employers with a high level of recruiting activity. Users can drill down for more in-depth information by clicking on the job title or organisation.

Graham Halewood, associate at sales recruitment specialist BMS UK, told Recruiter that the software enables the company to be proactive when it sees a sales vacancy somewhere else and so more knowledgeable when it approaches the potential client. “We also use it more strategically — if an employer is looking for a lot of people, it can alert you to which companies and sectors you should focus your
business development effort,” he said.

An added advantage in the current economic climate is as a motivational tool for new business personnel, he added. “At the moment,
making new business calls is a hard job and can be soul destroying, so if you can make the job a little bit easier, then so much the better.”
