Initio International is planning further expansion both at home and abroad, according to its chief executive.

After its recent acquisition of ASA Legal and Start Resourcing in October, Brendan Flood told Recruiter that he plans to acquire two additional niche staffing firms in the UK. The legal recruiter would supply partners and qualified lawyers into private practice, said Flood, but the other niche had not yet been identified.

“A lot of the larger recruiters currently operating in niche markets will go back to their core business,” he predicted.

There was no set timetable for these acquisitions, he added. However, each one had to tick certain boxes: strategic, ie be a niche professional business, financial and cultural.

“What I don’t want to do is change the culture of the organisation so we lose what we already have,” said Flood.
Initio also plans to acquire three single branch agencies in the US next year, bringing the number of US offices (where it owns Montrose Staffing Services) to 14.
