Green energy supply company SWALEC will open a new £7m training and operational training centre in Treforest in Wales, creating up to 250 jobs, which, a spokesperson for the company tells Recruiter, will include inexperienced hires.

A spokesperson for parent company Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) tells Recruiter: “We certainly would be looking to bring people in and train them - we’re not just looking for people who can already tick all the boxes.”

The spokesperson was unable to comment further on the types of jobs being created or the skills required.

The project has benefitted from £2m support from the Welsh government.

SSE chief executive, Ian Marchant says: “Today’s announcement shows… our willingness to invest and create new jobs and this exciting new training centre will ensure our staff will have the skills to be at the forefront of this green energy revolution.”
