Former assistant director general of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Duncan Brown has been appointed director of HR business development at the Institute for Employment Studies (IES).

Brown, who is joining from professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he led its management and employee reward work as a director in the HR practice, will take up his role next month.

Brown was also a former partner with international management consultants Towers Perrin where he advised organisations including GSK, the Cabinet Office and the United Nations.

Nigel Meager, director of the IES, said: “Duncan is well-regarded as an expert on reward and performance and our consultancy clients will benefit from his wide experience to help them improve organisational performance. His knowledge of the field will contribute to our existing rigorous and independent research that leads to evidence-based consulting.”
