Gear manufacturer David Brown Gear Systems will create around 80 new jobs at its Huddersfield factory having secured £4.8m in private and government funding.

Announcing the deal, Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister, said: “Not only is it great to be announcing new jobs here in Huddersfield today, but it’s fantastic that David Brown is using the Regional Growth Fund to scale its operations up and out into the new and growing ‘green’ market.”

According to the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, regional growth funds have so far financed over 50 projects across the country, leading to the direct creation of 27,000 jobs.
