Hot group, the AIM-listed recruitment company, has announced it has bought The Buzz, a temporary and permanent recruitment firm for £390,000.

The acquisition is part of the hot group's strategy of growing its business by acquiring complementary recruitment firms.

The Buzz is based in Kingston-Upon-Thames and specialises in permanent recruitment in leisure retail and sales sectors.

It also provides temporary recruitment in the catering, retail and office markets.

Doug Woodward, CEO of The Buzz, will join the board of hot group as managing director of the recruitment division.

Woodward formerly ran his own IT recruitment business, the Span Consultancy, which was acquired by Computer People in 1994.

He then joined the board at Computer People and became chairman and chief operating officer, reporting to CEO Tony Reeves – who is now chairman and CEO of hot group.

Reeves said: "The acquisition reunites a successful team and increases our presence within the traditional recruitment market."
