Concept of working from home more hype than reality

Working from home is a lot further off for most people than the hype suggests, according to research by consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Although remote working via the internet and telephone has become increasingly popular, with some employers encouraging their staff to work from home to reduce their environmental impact, lower the amount spent on office space rental and cut commuting times, a survey of 2,739 international graduates reveals that of 5% think they will be working mainly from home in the future. And among UK graduates, that figures falls to 0.6%.

Head of HR services at PwC Michael Rendell says: “You can’t underplay the social imopact of being in the office and the power of haiving people working in teams face-to-face. That creativity is not easy to replicate over the internet.”
