Women and ethnic minorities underrepresented at head teacher level

Women and ethnic minorities are underrepresented in senior-level teaching positions, according to a new report.

The report, from the National Association of Head Teachers and the Association of School and College Leaders, found that in 2007, 32% of head teachers were women, 8% down on 2006, while only one non-white secondary school teacher was hired and only 1% of primary school head teachers appointed last year were non-white.
