Healthcare Locums (HCL) has announced that it is in talks with Healthcare Australia Holdings which “may or may not” lead to a significant acquisition being made by the firm, according to a statement from the healthcare staffing specialist.

The statement says: “Further to recent press speculation, HCL can confirm that it is in exclusive discussions with Healthcare Australia Holdings, which may or may not lead to a significant acquisition being made by the company.

“As stated in the interim results announcement on 27 September 2010, the board will continue to look for strategic acquisitions provided that they demonstrably add value to shareholders, will enhance earnings per share and will deliver further international presence in the global healthcare staffing marketplace.

“The directors currently expect that any potential acquisition would be funded by debt finance. A further announcement will be made in due course.”
