There has been growing demand for retail banking roles, according to international recruiter Hays.

Hays also notes increased demand for restructuring and recovery roles in corporate and commercial banking jobs, as well as distressed debt specialists and business development professionals.

Tessa Hollingworth, operations director at Hays Banking, says the firm is currently experiencing an increase, particularly within the major retail banks and building societies.

Hollingworth says: “Recruitment is taking place across the board with these organisations looking for a mix of junior candidates and or those with managerial experience.

“Organisations will look carefully at an individual’s work history - evidence of loyalty to an employer is advantageous. Prior experience is preferred for more senior roles, although for the more junior roles the right attitude is just as important.”
