A series of new measures to help Britain’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) grow and create jobs was launched yesterday by Prime Minister David Cameron.

The measures include a £95m investment from the Regional Growth Fund to benefit hundreds of small businesses, workshops and various commitments from banks and business advisers to fuel business growth, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and banks Lloyds, Santander and Barclays.

David Cameron says: “Our determination is to come through these difficult times stronger, to trade our way to growth and jobs.”

As recruiter.co.uk reported yesterday, US Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke also sees smaller firms as key to economic recovery in his country, after such firms created over 100,000 jobs last month while large companies lost jobs overall.
