Traffic to the Government Communications Headquarters’ (GCHQ’s) careers site doubled on the launch date of the organisation’s pioneering recruitment campaign on Microsoft’s Xbox Live service.

GCHQ partnered with TMP Worldwide to target the online gaming community, providing insight into the organisation’s work which can include tackling computer hackers and fighting organised crime.

TMP told Recruiter that the click-through rate across the advertisements achieved an average of 11.5%, which it viewed as extremely positive given that the average on all advertising on Xbox Live is 4-9%. Statistics also showed that 22,254 people downloaded a combination of videos, gamer pics and background themes since launch, which are available once the advert is clicked and the user lands on the free content.
