Gangmaster Licence

CRB Recruitment loses its licence

CRB Recruitment of Southport has lost its Gangmaster Licence, the Gangmasters Licensing Authority reported today.

A variety of reasons cited for the company’s loss of the licence included were apparent failure to show evidence that a worker had been paid statutory sick pay for absence because of illness, and health and safety concerns that involved the workers’ transport and poor accident reporting procedures. Also, their existing opt-out forms for workers who choose to work more than 48 hours failed to meet full compliance.

CRB supplied 80 Portuguese and Polish workers for agriculture work, and some to the hotel industry.

Manuel Brito was the business principal.

“CRB Recruitment have already submitted a new licence application but will need to demonstrate that the original non-compliances have been rectified before the GLA would consider issuing a new licence,” a GLA spokesman said.
