The five recruitment industry professionals shortlisted for Recruiter’s Recruitment Personality of the Year 2011 represent a wide spectrum of achievements and specialisms. The honour recognises the professional who will have made the most significant impact on recruitment in the past year.

Those shortlisted are:

Greg Allen, head of recruitment EMEA, Nokia. Allen worked to deepen Nokia UK’s relationships with agencies on its preferred supplier list through the creation of recruitment boards and a resource council. He notably went on record as warning recruiters, “Don’t mess with my brand.”

Susan Bor, director, group resourcing, Royal Bank of Scotland. As director of group resourcing at RBS, Bor has taken what was a

mishmash of 7,500 processes and streamlined them into one centralised, standardised end-to-end process covering attraction, selection and assessment. Bor told Recruiter: “Four years ago you could send a CV into six divisions, and you might have got answers from them all, interviews with some and not others, and competencies would have been different just because there was no central view.”

Louise McCarthy-Teague, HR director, Meridian Business Support. McCarthy-Teague was nominated for her “proactive, passionate and altruistic approach” to ensuring preparedness among recruiters and clients alike for the impending implementation of the Agency Workers Regulations.

Sir Alec Reed, CBE, founder-at-large and former chairman, Reed. The serial entrepreneur has successfully married business and charity interests. As a long-time player in the welfare-to-work arena, Reed has called for reform to the current system, saying a “straight ’school-to-work’” approach is needed.

Tara Ricks, managing director, Joslin Rowe, soon to be Randstad Financial & Professional. From 2009 to 2010, Ricks led the integration of financial recruiter Joslin Rowe and accountancy recruiter Martin Ward Anderson, and within 10 months of the integration, had achieved the appointment of a joint board, relocated both firms into one headquarters and

launched a new consultant reward scheme, among other milestones.

The latest businesses to sign on as sponsors for the Awards are Daxtra Technologies and Liquid Friday.
