Fish4 to launch online CV-matching_2
Job board operator Fish4 will unveil a new online CV-matching system this month
Job board operator Fish4 will unveil a new online CV-matching system later this month that its top executives believe will “change the way this game is played”. The system - still unnamed as pagenum=”65”Recruiterpagenum=”65” went to press - will mean an end to the browsing recruiters must do online to find appropriate CVs for specific jobs. As soon as a job is posted on the site, the 10 CVs most closely matching its requirements will be emailed to the prospective hirer. Developed by Norwegian company Fast, the enterprise search system is being integrated with Fish4’s e-business platform by technology firm Infosys. It marks an investment of “several hundred thousand pounds”, says Fish4 chief technology officer Richard Yeo.
The CV-matching enhancement to Fish4’s online offering is part of a larger development, aimed at both simplifying the application process for candidates and at streamlining the job board’s use for recruiters. “We’re radically changing the Fish4 CV function,” Yeo told Recruiter.
A key change, set to follow later this year, is intended to cut back to 60 seconds the amount of time a candidate must spend filling in CV information on the site. Many roles posted on Fish4 do not demand as lengthy and complex a document as a proper CV, which means only basic information about applicants for such positions would be needed. Applicants will be able to link CVs by profile through such sources as MySpace.com, LinkedIn and personal blogs as a result of another change planned to speed up the application process.
Fish4 currently has nearly 200,000 CVs in its database, but is aiming for 5 million. Chief executive Joe Slavin describes the new tools as “market beating, market leading. I think that certain product developments can really change the way the game is played and serve as a barrier to entry for new competitors. We hope that this causes some people to lose sleep”.
